Brain Evolution and Charles Darwin's Theory

According to Charles Darwin's theory of evolution, some species manage to survive and prevail in their environment, while other species tend to disappear because they are not strong enough. The selective process decides which species lives and which will become extinct, depending on their resistance.

This concept is accepted by many people until today and they refuse to understand that Darwin was wrong.

He was right when he discovered that the human being is an animal, but the evolution of the species doesn't occur based on the resistance of each species, as many biologists after Darwin proved to the world with their research.

They concluded that if the organism didn't have the basis to evolve until certain point, it would never go further. There is a program that allows each organism to know how to behave in its environment and how to solve its survival problems, including how to find food and be protected from enemies. There is also an evolutionary program in each organism's cognitive mechanism.

A monkey will never be as intelligent as a human being, no matter how many years it may live, because it doesn't have a proper brain. It was not programmed to be as intelligent as man. So, there is no natural selection: there are only many programs for each species. These programs define the animals' behaviour, the route of their lives and evolution. The same happens in case of human beings.

Darwin's conclusions by observing the selective process were based on the knowledge of his time. He couldn't suppose that there are several programs behind the selective process that prepares each species to resist natural selection, which means that this selection doesn't happen by chance.

When we try to understand the formation of the human brain and the appearance of the conscience, we realize that this is a formation that took an incredibly long time. It cannot be something that could have evolved in our planet, because our planet is too young and the components of the human brain and their functionalisms are too complex.

The formation of the first brain and conscience occurred by chance at a time so distant that we cannot calculate it. It didn't take place on our own planet, in the same way that the formula for the formation of the first live cell didn't appear by chance in our planet because the planet's age (about 4.6 billion years old) is not sufficient to allow all the necessary combinations required by probability for the formation of the first live cell, since the permutations and combinations for this event would have been too many and they would take more time than the planet's age itself.

Therefore, we can conclude that the human being didn't appear on Earth by chance. The human brain and the formula for the appearance of the animal life are ancient and could not have been developed in our young planet, but all the animals, including man, have behavioral programs in the mechanism through which they acquire knowledge. These programs permit their perfect functionalism and survival in a hostile environment. Programs that might have being prepared by a superior brain for sure, since they could not have appeared by chance.

Thus, the human being inherits an ancient brain that can think and feel and is aware of its existence, but one has to pass through the same evolutionary process through which all animals pass in this planet, because probably, one has to be tamed like them...

Chinese hieroglyphics of dragons were found on turtle shells and bones. They depicted a horned reptile with teeth, and sometimes paws. There was also at times a sign above saying the dragon brought bad luck. Scientists think what people believed were dragons were likely alligators, lizards, or snakes.

However, since alligators build underground tunnels, and Chinese dragons were thought to guard valuables under water, most people believe they are associated with alligators.

Again, Oriental dragons are associated with water; they live under water and some are born as fish. Oriental dragons spit water out of their mouths and are not evil, nor are they fire-breathing (those are the western dragons ). They only come out at night. Phoenix are the preferred mate of dragons , because in Chinese culture dragons represent Yin, the male side of the Yin-yang, and Phoenix represent Yang, the female side. Oriental dragons represent strength, bravery, purity, wisdom and excellence.

Some dragons also represent sin in the Christian religion, and in old legends, destruction. But Chinese dragons are only sources of goodness.

There are nine major types of oriental dragons , or lungs. They are:

Dilong. Earth Dragon. They fly only to mate and are the female counterpart of Shenlong.

Horned. These are the most powerful of the Chinese Dragons ; they can make rain and are deaf. There is also the homeless dragon, Li, who lives in the ocean, and the scaly Chiao of marshes and mountains.

Winged. Yinglong. The oldest of all dragons . All dragons grow wings when they age.

Tianlong. Celestial "Heavenly" dragons . These are the dragons that represent the Chinese culture; they guard the gods and the emperors and pull their chariots.

Shenlong. Spiritual. This type of dragon guards sacred places from evil demons; he controls wind and rain for mankinds' benefit.

Dragon of Hidden Treasures. Fucanglong. Dragons like this guard hidden and sacred treasures, such as the Pearl of Wisdom. They cause volcanos when bursting out of the earth to communicate to Heaven.

Coiling. Panlong. Inhabits Oriental lakes.

Yellow. Huanglong. Many myths and legends were made about the Yellow Dragon, one that the dragon emerged from water and showed Emperor Fu Shi the basics of writing.

Dragon King. There are four dragon kings. One for each of the 4 seas; the North, South, East, and the West. They appear as dragons but can transform into human shapes. They live in crystal palaces.

There are also nine attributes Oriental Dragons share:

The eyes of a demon, the head of a camel, the ears of a cow, the neck of a snake, the horns of an antelope, the feet of a tiger, the stomach of a shellfish, the scales of a fish, and the claws of an eagle.

Why Is Nanotechnology Important?

First, you need to know what the term means...I will reference Wikipedia for a proper definition.

Nanotechnology refers broadly to a field of applied science and technology whose unifying theme is the control of matter on the atomic and molecular scale, normally 1 to 100 nanometers, and the fabrication of devices with critical dimensions that lie within that size range.

It is simply technology of the smallest kind. Why is that important? The laws of physics as most of you know them don't function in quite the same way when you talk about things this small. But you may be surprised to know that this is not "new" technology.

The first use of the concepts in 'nano-technology' (but predating use of that name) was in "There's Plenty of Room at the Bottom," a talk given by physicist Richard Feynman at an American Physical Society meeting at Caltech on December 29, 1959. Feynman described a process by which the ability to manipulate individual atoms and molecules might be developed, using one set of precise tools to build and operate another proportionally smaller set, so on down to the needed scale. In the course of this, he noted, scaling issues would arise from the changing magnitude of various physical phenomena: gravity would become less important, surface tension and Van der Waals attraction would become more important, etc.

This technology is making leaps and bounds. Quantum physics, quantum mechanics, nanotechnology, all of these are related terms. You could ride an elevator into space because of nanotubes. Nanofiltration will bring water to rural areas who otherwise could not properly filter drinking water. There are ideas in the works that would allow nanomachines to deliver medicine directly to specific types of cells in the body. For example, an injection of nanobots with a chemotherapy drug for cancer could deliver the dose directly to the cancer tissue, reducing the damage to other tissues, and the quantity of medicine needed for treatment. There are nano materials that you can wear just like your shirt, that can change instantaneously into bullet and pierce proof material. There are literally thousands of other applications out there, but what is important for you to know is that this is a legitimate, and worthwhile thing to study.

These ideas are no longer science fiction, they are real.

As an educator and science fair judge I have seen many great science projects and many poor science projects. What makes a project great. Following are some ideas for making a science fair project a winning project. First, you have to make sure you study, study, study, and understand your topic. It is very important that you follow the steps of the scientific method when studying your topic. That means that you make a hypothesis (prediction statement) and then test it to see if it is true or not.

Make sure you have enough data to test your hypothesis. I've seen projects fail because they only tested a few subjects. It is important that your conclusions answer your original question. You should have a log book that describes what you have done throughout the completion of your project. Your paper should be typed in APA format and contain references within the text and a reference list at the end of the paper. A reference list contains the sources that you used to write your paper. It is also a good idea to have charts and graphs showing your data and results. When completing your study, be sure to observe safety regulations so you are not putting yourself or anyone else in danger.

Your poster board should be neat, clean, and should present good visuals that are relevant to your study. When you are presenting your project to the judges, make sure to speak up and make eye contact. Judges understand that you are nervous but they can also tell if you are not prepared so in order to be less nervous make sure you study hard and be prepared to explain your project and answer questions. Very importantly, make sure you choose a topic that you are interested in and want to learn more about.
